Powerlite
Powerlite is part of a larger British Company which for years has remanufactured dynamos and starter motors for the trade and is very familiar with the operational requirements of these products. All manufacture is in the United Kingdom. We at Holdens are delighted to be able to offer these quality products to our customers.
Dynalite overview
Users of classic cars nowadays want to fit more and more electrical and electronic equipment, radios, CD players, spot lamps and heaters and reach the point where the original dynamo with its output of about 20 amps can't keep up. Modern cars use alternators which produce around 40 amps, even at low engine speeds, to meet the more substantial electrical demand. Obviously you can modify your car to fit an alternator, but this spoils the under- bonnet appearance, this is where Powerlite comes in: To replace the most common Lucas dynamos Powerlite have developed their Dynalite alternator which looks just like the original Lucas dynamo, thus maintaining the original under-bonnet appearance. They even use original Lucas end castings, a superb product.
Powerlite Hi-Torque Starter Motors overview
Having established production of the Dynalite, they then looked at starter motors and have developed replacements for many of the original Lucas starters. Powerlite's approach here has been slightly different in that they sought to offer something much better than the original. The result is a geared motor which positively engages the pinion into the flywheel electrically and produces a huge increase in cranking power to start the engine. It uses aluminium castings and is beautifully made. In developing starter motors for individual applications, they have at the same time paid particular attention to make them easier to install. As with the Dynalite, they are much lighter than the originals. Another distinct advantage is that most are half the weight of the original. Another superb product.
